In 2008, Judith Long (L) and Lucy Cooney (R) had a brilliant idea. Inspired by Portland's Black Frame Sale (which benefits Portland's Bayside Neighborhood Association), they thought perhaps they could organize a similar event in Brunswick to benefit Arts Are Elementary, a non-profit organization that puts artists in residence in Brunswick's elementary schools. With the support of the Black Frame committee members, Lucy and Judith set to work with Points of View Gallery artists and Arts Are Elementary board members. Art lovers from all around Midcoast Maine came out on a beautiful October evening and raised more than $5000 for Brunswick's students .
